The Model S was awarded a 5.4 out of 5 safety rating from the National Highway Safety Administration.
This is the highest safety rating awarded to any car in the history of the automobile.
Because the Model S has no engine, the entire front end of the car becomes a crumple zone, and the battery packs located underneath the car create a very low center of gravity. It also makes use of aerospace-grade bolts, which gives it a virtually indestructible frame.
