I’ve always wanted to write fiction. But every time I try to write something serious, it ends up sounding like shit. I can’t be a serious writer. It feels so artificial. My best works are comedic, wrapped in layers of jokes. I know great writers can get to profundity through comedy, but I haven’t really achieved that yet. I started watching Bojack Horseman recently and it’s really surprised me. I was not expecting its mix of dark humor and truth. It gives me hope that I will eventually find that mix of humor and realness that leads to great art.
