I type a lot every day. Most of it involves curly braces and semicolons, but I still send emails back and forth. I try to be as concise as possible in those because more words really aren’t helping anyone. We all are busy—or should be—so I don’t want to waste peoples’ time with email. It might sound curt, but sometimes if it adequately answers the question, I have no qualms about having one-word email replies. It’s not that I want to be rude. In fact, I’d actually prefer to just walk over to someone’s desk to talk face-to-face.
